International Students
SafeStartdriving school teaches international students to drive in Canada.
Moving to a new country and adapting to new customs and culture can often be hard. At Lambton Driving Academy, we want to make sure your transition to living in Canada is easy. Our Lambton Driving Academy SafeStart program offers driving classes for international students to learn to drive in Canada. We can help you pass the driving test to get an Ontario driver's licence.
The Ontario Driver's licence System
Ontario uses a graduated licencing system. This means that to get a driver's licence in Ontario, you will need to pass three tests before you can have a full driver's licence. This process is designed to give new driver's time to practice and gain driving experience over time. The first two licencing levels are called G1 and G2. You will need to pass a written exam to get your G1 and you will need to pass a road test to get your G2. To get your full G driver's licence, you will need to pass one more road test. The Lambton Driving Academy SafeStart program can help you prepare for each driving test. Learn more information about the Ontario driver's licence.
SafeStart Program
Learning to drive in Canada is different from learning to drive in other parts of the world and it's important to know the special rules that you need to get your Ontario driver's licence. This is why the Lambton Driving Academy SafeStart program is the perfect beginner driver education program for international students.
Our SafeStart program teaches you everything you need to know to drive in Canada and specifically, in Ontario. Our program is nationally recognized by insurance companies and we have helped many international students get their Ontario driver's licence. Our instructors can help you prepare for your G1 test (beginner's permit and first learning level), your G2 road test (the second learning level), or your G level driving test.
What You will Learn in Driving Classes
The Lambton Driving Academy program is different from other programs and driving classes that teach you to drive. Our program has 20 hours of learning in a classroom and 6 of these hours are spent in driving simulator labs where you will find out what it feels like to drive in Canada before getting out on a road. Our program also has 10 hours of online learning in our computer lab and 10 hours of individual, personalized in-car lessons with one of our driving instructors. International students who do not have access to a vehicle to practice may require more than 10 hours in car lessons, depending on past experience, to pass our course.

Our classes are located in a convenient location for international students at Lambton College. Our in-class lessons are in the South building at 1457 London Rd. There is also free pick up and drop off for in-car lessons anywhere which is perfect for students who live off-campus.
